Attendance Expectations
Every Student, Every day
We expect all students to maintain an attendance rate of 95% or higher. Even a 90% attendance rate adds up to about a month of missed school over the year, which can have a big impact on learning. Please try to plan family trips and vacations when school is not in session.
A student is considered chronically absent if they miss 10% of the school year (18 days) for any reason.
If your child is absent, please call the general office by 9:00 a.m. When they return, we recommend sending a note to the teacher.
If you would like your child’s homework sent home or picked up, the request must be made before your child’s lunch period. Teachers cannot prepare assignments during instructional time. Requests made after lunch are not guaranteed, and you may need to coordinate with another student in the class.
If your child suffers an injury that prevents them from walking, climbing stairs, or writing, we need a doctor’s note. Please ensure the nurse and general office receive clear instructions about the injury and how long it will affect your child.
If your child is out for an extended period for personal reasons, please provide a note indicating where they will be and for how long. If the absence involves air travel, we ask that you notify us at least one week in advance.
Thank you for your cooperation.
